"Jesus is the divine face of man, and the human face of God." Your poetry illustrates the latter part of the quote very poignantly.
Quote:I think we sometimes have a very hard time absorbing the fullness of God's humanity in his Son, and to imagine God speaking to us with passion and ardor is uncomfortable. And yet, when we search the scriptures, we find a God who burns with love for us, who delights in us, and who has heart palpatations when we even look in His direction! It's an enormous concept to grasp, isn't it?
Yes, it is, isn't it? I know just what you mean, Helena. My husband is like that. He sees G-d as someone high above it all, omni-everything, not interested in our everyday personal lives, wants and needs. But, he has slowly been coming to believe that what has been, and is, happening to us is because of G-d's loving hand.
But, I have always seen G-d on a personal level. I think it's partly due to the way I grew up: as the eldest child and family facilitator. (But that's a whole other story.) In addition, I came to know the L-rd in my mid-forties, and with no real pre-conceived ideas about Him. I think it's why I could come to Him as a child could, and why it's always been so personal. It's what I needed at the time, and it's what He gave me. I still see Him that way, but now on a whole new level!
