We have changed webhosts and are now self-hosting our forum on a new software. (MyBB)

We have decorated the place to feel like home, although there will be some changes just because the software is different.

If you were a member previously, your account is still here. However, you will need to recover your password through the "forgot password" link on the login page. If that is unsuccessful because you no longer have access the email account on file here, please use the contact form to let us know your new email so that you can receive the password reset link.

There are still things to fix and transfer projects from the old forums to complete, so if you see a problem, please use this topic to let us know so we can take care of it. Smile

Forgive the months long hiatus, information is finally tranferring and our links will start bringing you here instead of to the Tapatalk version of the forum. Selfhosting ZionFireFriends gives us complete control of this webspace. This is a good thing.

Unfortunately some things did not transfer with the move:

PMs
avatars and signature images
attachments

We were able to retrieve a file of the thread attachments, so they still exist. I'll be gradually reviewing important content and adding the corresponding images back to them. If you see an edit by me noted in your post, its likely that I had remove some dangling XML code that got deposited in the transfer.

ZionFireFriends transition to a new platform

In the near future, the ZFF messageboard platform will be transitioning to Tapatalk groups, as ZetaBoards is ending.

I'll do my best to make it look like home so it won't be a big shock.

The main difference you will notice first is that you have to log in again and establish new cookies. All your posts and PMs should remain, and your login-credentials will be the same.

Any bookmarked links you have to the forum will redirect, so they should all still work as well.

Tapatalk groups have built in mobile functionality, so some of you may like it even better.

So we are soon off to a new adventure in these forums and we'll see how it goes.

Banner Gallery links have been fixed

Apparently a recent FireFox update broke the Banner Gallery index links in the sidebar.

The problem has now been fixed and navigation is restored.

Psalms of Ascent - a new meditation series by Dean

There is a new section that has been added for our ZionFireFriends.

Psalms of Ascent takes you through the journey up to Jerusalem for the feast. We invite you to take this journey with Dean as he brings in historical and personal anecdotes along the way. Click the link above or find it on our Jewish Roots section.

Our Lenten Meditations forum has a couple of new entries: Ride On to Die (Michael Card) and the old hymn, My Jesus I love thee. Also videos have been added to many of the topics there. We think that there is an opportunity for some beautiful meditation time as you let the music and images wash over you.

As always, we are happy for any feedback or questions which can be posted here or right in the topic.

Theme option added to ZFF

Jerusalem Gold Original has been added to the theme changer as a viewing option for ZionFireFriends. This was the design in use prior to the website update that integrated this forum with our ZionFire site. So some of you may recognize that old friend.

In recently helping a friend update a little netbook, I realized that users with limited resolutions and mobile users likely had some issues with the width of our default theme.

Jerusalem Gold Original is completely fluid so that should be helpful to those of you with those issues.

I am also considering adding a mobile-friendly theme at some point.

It's finally come to fruition--all our ideas to make a new home for the ZionFire banner gallery have come together after nearly 2 years of planning, designing, and developing.

Take a look and help us smooth out any rough edges by by reporting bugs or other issues you encounter while browsing the site.

This message board theme will also be undergoing some changes shortly to better integrate it into the new site. When we are done, both sites will share the same navigation menu. So look for a couple changes here as well.

For sometime, new registrations have been blocked because of an error in the board controls, we are not sure for how long, but it could have been for several months.

We are now in the process of converting this board from Invisionfree to the ZetaBoards software. This will in time, allow us to integrate our website with this message board.

Things will be a little messy for a while as we make the transition, but all necessary functions will be accessible during the change.

The new theme, Jerusalem Gold was designed especially this site. Our main site, ZionFire.com is also scheduled for an update and will have a coordinating theme. We'll update you further on that as it progresses.

Hope you all enjoy the new look and features of the new board. All content and preferences will be preserved in the change. But some things will of necessity need to be moved around. So if you can't find something, just ask... and we'll point you to it.

It will also take us a while to get search links and such sorted. Please bear with us.

New forum for Pastoral Perspectives

ANNOUNCING the opening of AARON'S BEARD, a forum for pastoral perspectives.

Because we have some pastors here as ZFFriends, we are opening a forum for them to speak to us with exegetical studies, sermon notes or exhortations that they want to share with worshipers that visit here. The forum will be for that, and also for non-pastor types here to raise any issues or questions they would like pastors to address. It is our hope that lively exchanges will happen here that will build up the worshiping community and strengthen the connections with our leaders. No everyone has experienced being properly pastored, or maybe even being pastored at all. We can all learn something about the give and take that is required for healthy church and ministry relationships.

We hope that this forum fills with information, ideas, and teaching that will build us all up in our ministries and relationships.

We are giving pastors an icon designation so that anyone reading the topic knows the perspective of the writer. And, a new emoticon! hepherd:

If you want to see who our pastor members here are, go to the bottom of the Member page and search for the PFriends group. Oh, and if you are a pastor and we somehow missed adding you to the pastors member group, send us a PM or post here so we can give you the proper designation.

We've put ZionFireFriends back on the Christian Dance and Creative Ministries webring. We had been on the ring for a while some time ago, but the activity slowed, so I removed us. Recently, the webring is under some new management and seems to be reviving, so we are back on. Getting back on the ring spurred us to make some navigation adjustments. You'll see in the top navigaton a new button to the ZionFire website where the banner pictures are: its called "Gallery". You will also easily be able to find your way back to this message board from there now.

I hope that visitors who stop here as they peruse the ring sites find it a valuable expediture of their time. Welcome, and if you like what you see, please join us!

Convergence Worship - new forum

We've opened a new forum for Convergence Worship that I hope you will find interesting and evocative. If you are not familiar with the term, it has to do with bringing the current culture into the established forms and styles of worship in a way that doesn't replace them, but that refreshes them. It is closely connected with the "three streams" theology which seeks to equally honor the charismatic, the sacramental and the evangelical in worship life.

RSS feed for ZFF now available

Here is a little perk for those that want to quickly check on what is new at ZFF without subscribing to a bunch of forums and getting emailed about it.

We are now providing an RSS feed for those who would like to add our site to their feed readers or My Page sites. Just click on the RSS icon at the left of the top navigation bar to add the feed. If your browser is set up to accept feeds, a screen should appear that allows you to add our site feed. If all you see is a bunch of code gobbledigook, just copy the URL in the address bar (or right click on the icon to get the link) and paste the URL into the "add a feed" areas of sites like My Yahoo, My MSN, My AOL or a downloaded feedreader program.

What will the ZFF feed show?

It will show the title of new topics and topics with new replies, and the name of the last ZFFriend that posted on it. The feed will draw from all the guest-viewable forums, but not from the member-only forums. You'll have to check in here to see what's new in those.

For those not familiar with RSS feeds, it provides a way to get links to the newest topics and headlines from a bunch of your favorite sites all organized in one place for you to peruse. Then you follow the links to the ones that interest you. We love it that we have members that check in here everyday, this is just possibly a way for you to do it more efficiently.

FireFox feed controls are in Menu > Tools > Options > Feed

I understand that IE7 & Vista have built in RSS feed options, but IE6 users may need to download a reader or use a version available through Outlook.

If anyone has any questions about our RSS feed, or feeds in general, you can ask them here or in the Help! forum.

ZFF registration change

Just a heads up for those of you who invite people to join ZFF. You might want to let them know that:

We have tried to keep the forums registration process open in a way that new members can post as as soon as they register and confirm. However, the spambot traffic has increased to an unbelievably high level (and some are now including their filth in their registration info) that we have decided to move to the admin validation system for new registrations. It is so frustrating to have to deal with this daily and have no way to fight back. The only thing we can do is absolutely not even allow the spammer names to appear on this board.

That means that if someone registers, they will have to wait for one of the admins to validate their account before they are approved as members. This could delay their access to the board for several hours or longer until one of us is able to go through the validation queue. We regret inconveniencing the participation of real members in any way, we really do, but this seems the best course for now. We will likely kept it this way until the new forum software is released with it's more effective spammer prevention.

New Jewish Roots forum opened

We've been having some interesting discussions lately with some of our members concerning the exploration of our Jewish roots which has inspired us to make a place for further discussions. We have always believed that a primary calling of our ZionFire ministry is to remind the church of her Jewish roots, and her Jewish Messiah, so it almost seems very belated to have waited till now to open this forum.

But the timing of the Lord is often mysterious, isn't it? We've put together a few introductory posts and topics and encourage those interested to contribute to them and to add your own thoughts and questions into the mix. Let's see where it all takes us. It could be a wild ride!

We don't pretend to be experts in this area but we do believe that our premise is solidly based on the scriptures and that will be our plumb-line in these discussions. I think we have a very interesting and evocative journey ahead of us as we separate the precious from the vile....and become familiar with custom, culture and heritage that will open up our understanding to the Hebraic nuances in the scriptures...written by Jews, about Jews, and for Jews. It only makes sense doesn't it? Jesus was Jewish! Duh!
